Door & Window Options for Oak-Framed Buildings

The right doors and windows can completely transform the look, feel, and functionality of a new building. Whether you are planning a bespoke oak garage, a garden room filled with natural light, or a beautifully crafted extension that blends seamlessly with your property, choosing the right glazing and access options is an important part of the design process.

At English Heritage Buildings, every door and window option is carefully selected to complement the timeless character of our oak-framed buildings while offering the practicality modern homeowners expect.

Oak Garage Door Options

Our garage doors are available in Softwood, Iroko, and Oak, allowing homeowners to choose a finish that suits both their building and budget. Softwood offers a practical and cost-effective option, while Iroko provides the rich appearance and durability of a premium hardwood. Oak garage doors remain a popular choice for those looking to create a truly sophisticated and cohesive oak frame building.

Designed to complement our bespoke garages, including both single-storey and garages with upper floors, these doors provide secure vehicle storage while enhancing the character and kerb appeal of the property as a whole.

Bi-Fold Doors

Bi-fold doors are an excellent choice for homeowners looking to create a more contemporary feel within their oak-framed building. By opening up entire sections of a wall, bi-fold systems help blur the line between indoor and outdoor living. They are particularly popular in garden rooms and extensions where they create uninterrupted garden views, increased natural light, and flexible entertaining spaces during warmer months.

Despite their modern appearance, bi-fold doors work beautifully alongside oak framing, creating a striking contrast between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary glazing design.

All of our bi-fold doors are bespoke to your requirements and are available in Iroko and Oak.

Suitable For

  • Garden rooms
  • Leisure buildings
  • Extensions
  • Complexes
  • Commercial buildings
  • Houses

Bespoke Sizing

Every bi-fold system is designed around the individual project. Please contact our team to discuss your requirements and the most suitable configuration for your oak frame building.

Contemporary Direct Glazing

Direct glazing is an increasingly popular option for homeowners seeking a clean, contemporary appearance while still preserving classic beauty. Unlike more conventional framed glazing systems, direct glazing uses frame-free glazing units that allow more of the oak structure itself to remain visible. This creates a minimalist appearance with larger uninterrupted glass areas, helping maximise natural light and external views.

The result is a modern aesthetic that still works harmoniously with oak craftsmanship, making direct glazing especially popular in garden rooms, extensions, and leisure buildings.

Suitable For

  • Garden rooms
  • Leisure buildings
  • Extensions
  • Complexes
  • Commercial buildings

Bespoke Sizing

Because direct glazing is tailored to the individual building design, sizing options can vary depending on the project. Our team can discuss the best glazing solution for your requirements.

Choosing the Right Doors and Windows for Your Oak-Framed Building

Choosing doors and windows is about far more than measurements and materials. The right combination can completely change how your building looks, feels, and functions day-to-day.

For example, large glazed areas and bi-fold doors can help create brighter living spaces with stronger connections to the garden, while a set of oak garage doors may provide a more heritage-inspired appearance that complements the surrounding property.

It’s also important to consider:

  • Natural light levels
  • Ventilation
  • Privacy
  • Accessibility
  • Security
  • Long-term durability
  • How the building will be used throughout the year
