Why You Should Choose English Heritage Buildings

For more than three decades, we’ve championed traditional English oak framing, pairing time‑honoured craftsmanship with modern precision engineering. As the UK’s first Q‑Mark Certified oak frame manufacturer, every structure we create is designed, graded, and produced to rigorous, independently verified standards.

Here’s what that means for you in practice.

Q-Mark Certified Excellence

We were the first oak‑frame manufacturer in the UK to hold the BM TRADA Q‑Mark. This certification is awarded after assessment against 22 industry standards and ongoing audits throughout the year. It confirms that our materials, manufacturing methods, and quality controls consistently meet the highest benchmarks for performance and durability.

Our BM TRADA Certification

A 10-Year Frame Guarantee

Your oak frame is engineered to last. When installed by an English Heritage Buildings Approved Contractor, it is covered by our comprehensive 10‑year frame guarantee. This is a testament to the confidence we have in our materials, workmanship, and process.

Independently Audited Manufacturing and Calculations

Quality isn’t a one‑time claim; it’s a continuous practice. Our manufacturing and structural calculation processes are independently audited to ensure repeatable accuracy. From initial 3D designs to final checks, this process ensures consistency, precision, and long‑term performance.

Fixed and Transparent Pricing

Our quoting system is engineered for fair, standardised pricing. We calculate the complete specification up front, including location-specific structural requirements, so the price you receive is the price you pay.

Offering In-House Technical Support

Our in-house technical team is here to answer your questions, explain the design process, and help you explore options that fit your property and your vision.

Whether you’re considering planning requirements or fine design details, we’ll provide the clarity you need to move forward with confidence.

From concept to completion, you’ll have direct access to our specialists. From refining architectural details and navigating regulations to reviewing drawings, they’ll provide clear, practical guidance at every stage.

Our Planning and Drawing Service

Bring your vision to life with our Planning and Drawing Service. We prepare detailed drawings suitable for planning applications and building control, and we can introduce you to independent Planning Consultants for feasibility advice. Clear drawings also make for smoother assembly on-site.

Professionally Documented Timber Grading

Every piece of timber we use is graded and documented at multiple stages. Visual checks begin at unloading, continue through machining, and are repeated after cutting. Any timber that doesn’t meet our standards is rejected or repurposed appropriately, ensuring only the best material makes it into your frame.

Our Qualified Timber Graders

Our in-house timber graders are fully trained and qualified. This specialist expertise is rare in our sector and underpins the structural integrity of every building we produce.

Offering Certified On-Site Assembly

If you so choose, we can ensure that assembly is carried out by a set of our Approved Contractors. These are contractors local to your area who are already familiar with our products and procedures, so they already know how our projects typically come together. This ensures the precision of the workshop is matched on site, with frames fitting as designed, connections performing as specified, and your building settling exactly as it should.

Designed to Current Eurocodes

All English Heritage Buildings’ frames are designed and calculated in accordance with the latest Eurocodes. We account for location‑specific factors such as wind load, elevation, and orientation. The result is a structure tailored to your site and engineered for generations of use.

Traditional Craft and Modern Precision

We combine traditional mortice‑and‑tenon joinery with advanced CNC precision machining to deliver accuracy, speed, and repeatability. The outcome is unmistakable: clean lines, exact fits, and enduring strength, all of which are hallmarks of true English craftsmanship.
